2006
The 2006 Annual Charity Ball goes from strength to strength, with another 300 guests from more than a dozen countries attending this years annual fundraising event.
The 2006 event raised 506,000Kč for children's charity with the funds being directed towards regional hospitals in the Czech Republic catering to children's needs.
This year the entertainment line-up featured Buckley's Chance an Aussie bush band, Manaia Maori Performing Arts Group and Veselé Skoky (Jolly Jumps) which resulted in non-stop entertainment throughout the night, with a disco lasting until early hours of the morning.
One of the highlights of the evening was the battle of the titans for the Chelsea Football Club jersey signed by the entire team. The auction of the jersey saw Grahame Maher - Vodafone, Nathan Swale - Orco Property Group and Martin Carr - Pinnacle Central and Eastern Europe property battling it out for the jersey which finally went for 65,000Kč. Fabulous effort from Martin Carr the luckly bidder.
As ever, Manaia's opening performance set the mood with the Haka proving as popular as ever. Buckley's Chance appearing for the first time, provided the crowd with a number of bush ballads during the dinner and got an enthusiastic crowd bush dancing once the formalities were over. Also appearing for the first time, the Czech dance troup Veselé Skoky (or Jolly Jumps) proved enormously popular with the crowd rounding off the night with non-stop entertainment from Australia, New Zealand and the Czech Republic.
